When you come to us for hair services, you receive a full attentive consultation, during which we truly get to know your lifestyle, personality, hair type and facial structure. We take into consideration your hair concerns and your styling routine when we come up with the perfect cut and color to suit you.

Here at Mayapple, we appreciate and celebrate differences, and we do our absolute best to bring out the gorgeous inner you, so you leave feeling fabulous and looking fabulous.

We believe everyone deserves to feel beautiful, so our prices are very reasonable. We love volunteering for local charity fundraisers benefiting Youth Bridge and Peace at Home Family Shelter.

We want your experience to be a little different here than in other salons. You can drink green tea, sangria with organic berries, or perhaps a PBR, as you peruse our boutique, try out our makeup lines, and marvel at our unique art and decor. Sit and read European style magazines while you’re waiting, and get some ideas. If you want to bring your children, we have a box full of toys and books to entertain them while you’re getting styled.

Mayapple Prepares for Runway Show at Art Amiss 11

Roxie and Mel of Mayapple will be working on hair and make-up for the Art Amiss 11 runway show on Wednesday, November 11th, 2009, at Dickson Street Theater. Art Amiss, Inc., is a local artists’ collective with the purpose of giving opportunity to emerging artists living in or working from Arkansas. This all ages, multimedia event will open at 7:00pm, with a $7 admission charge. Tickets are available for purchase at the door.

Art Amiss 11 will showcase the work of visual artists along with musicians, fashion designers and a team of installation artists to create a diverse yet cohesive art extravaganza.

The evening features a live preview performance by Teri Card Heller and her new ensemble SIRËoNa. Teri will premiere the full performance on Thursday, November 12th at Teatro Scarpino. Also, an eclectic compilation CD featuring the music of 12 Arkansas artists will be distributed to the first 200 patrons to arrive at the event, free with admission.

An anthology of fiction, poetry, and literary translation will also be distributed free to the first 200 guests. Several local writers will read from their works throughout the evening at Nightbird Books.

Juried works shown at Art Amiss 11 are for sale, and buyers are welcome. Participating artists will be on hand to talk with the public throughout the evening.

Immediately following Art Amiss 11, an afterparty featuring live performances by Little Rock hip-hop artist 607 and Austin’s DJ NickNack will be held at Club Fix, inside Willy D’s right across the street from the Dickson Street Theater. 21+ and admission is $5, but 2 for 1 admission if you attended Art Amiss!

Mayapple Announces New Partnership

Seasoned stylist Roxie Hunt and stylist/make-up artist Melissa Arens have teamed up in a partnership to operate Mayapple Salon and Boutique at 546 W. Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Born, raised, and trained in Seattle, Roxie Hunt been customizing hairdos for over 10 years. From young hipsters to old hippies and everyone in between, she specializes in hip, custom, low-maintainance ‘dos that totally suit one’s face, lifestyle and personality. Roxie recently completed an intensive advanced color class at Redken in Manhattan, and she is working on her Redken Color Specialist certification.

Melissa (Mel) was born in Michigan and has lived in southern California. She approaches hair and make-up with creativity through color, texture and style, and she’s not afraid to experiment with the latest styles and trends. Mel’s specialties include all types of hair color and highlight techniques, eye-catching styles for weddings, proms and special occasions, as well as make-up artistry and color matching.

The pair’s upcoming collaboration will be styling the NWA Rollergirls for a fashion show at Art Amiss 11 on November 11th, 2009.
