From the Chair

I’ve been a long-time customer of Roxie Hunt.

My hair is (no joke) 4 ft. long. I was turned off to going to salons, because my experiences were always with stylists who wanted and would cut more hair off then agreed upon initially and outright refuse to color it or treat it. I steered clear of stylists for years.

I had multiple friends who went to Roxie for all of their hair needs and desires and I loved everything I saw. I wanted to have fun with my hair, but didn’t want to change the length. I decided to throw caution to the wind and gave her a try.

I’ve had so many hair styles and colors with Roxie, it doesn’t feel like I just have long hair. It’s stylish too! She’s not even afraid to give me a crazy up-do!

I love everything she does and she’s the only stylist I could imagine going to. I’m so happy to not just be wearing a bun or a ponytail anymore!

P.S. I live in Seattle, where Roxie is from. I come out to Arkansas every few months and have my hair done if she isn’t back in the N.W., making a cameo in a salon.

Melissa Arens is a styling hairdresser who rocks both my kids’ hair, my husband’s hair and my styling locks. I get compliments all the time on all of our hairstyles. We love chilling in the Mayapple Salon with its vintage mid-century decor and charming atmosphere.

Roxie is wonderful! I have very thick, coarse hair that scares most stylists. Not Roxie–I’m always getting compliments on her cuts.

You know how it is so hard to find a good hairstylist? Someone who will listen to you and give you what you want. Someone who will give you advice on what’s a good or bad idea for you. Someone who will remember your hair, your story, your plans and get right back on board when it is your turn to do something special. Someone who understanda what it means to be hip, but not too hip. That is Melissa Arens at Mayapple. And the Salon? It’s the Hugo’s of Hairdressing. A comfy, fun secret of Fayetteville I love to visit. I always recommend it, and I am never switching. As a matter of fact, you should switch.

Roxie’s haircut got me a job, and got me laid.

I met Melissa Arens just about a year or two ago while modeling in hair shows for a local talent agency in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I can remember standing around at the John Q. Hammons Center, waiting to go into hair and make-up. I spotted Mel probably before she spotted me. I saw her style and knew immediately I wanted THAT girl to do my hair. It must have been fated because she became my stylist for that show! I had a great time, and my look was fabulous. She really knows how to mix in exotic elements with style, while allowing one’s overall look to remain realistic.

Since then, I’ve gone to Mel for all of my personal looks! I’d never allowed color in my hair before Mel. She made me totally comfortable. After seeing the results of my first cut and color with her, I was addicted! She’s my girl! I strongly recommend her to anyone. She’s especially fabulous if you’re feeling unsure about a decision and are seeking a qualified and fashion-forward opinion. I go to her anytime I need a touch-up or even just advice. Thanks, Mel!

When Roxie cut my hair, I felt good about myself for the first time in my life. And she didn’t even get mad when I tried to hit on her; she wasn’t the least bit offended! She just politely told me to pay and get out. Needless to say, I didn’t give her a tip, but now I wish I had. Roxie’s the coolest!
